Free James Mubiru, Barbie Kyagulanyi to UPDF Military court

The founder of Caring Hearts Uganda Ms. Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi has called upon military police to release Rubaga North Lord councilor James Mubiru immediately from prison.

Mr Mubiru has been held at Makindye military barracks for close to five months.

Mrs Kyagulanyi told Whisper Eye that National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Mubiru was aligned before the Military Court Martial without the presence of his lawyers.

“Subjecting civilians to the military trial as we all know, was this week dispelled by the Constitutional Court. James is one of the many civilians who have been subjected to military law and currently being tried before military courts,” says Mrs. Kyagulanyi.

I am hoping that he (Mubiru) and many other civilians in the hands of the military will have their cases transferred to civil courts under the direction of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) within the 14 days as directed by the constitutional court,” Mrs. Barbie explained.

Mrs Barbie Kyagulanyi is a multi-talented self-motivated speaker, founder Caring Hearts Uganda, wife of People Power leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu stage name Bobi Wine.

James Mubiru was arrested by UPDF military and he is currently held at Makindye Military Prison in Kampala.

He was denied bail after being charged with various crimes.
