Lira Police Accused of Taking Kidnapped Child’s Case Too Lightly

Lira residents are baffled at the casual manner in which Police are handling the case of kidnap of a 4-year old girl, now coming to a week as the desperate mother pleads for action. 

On Monday, angry workers from Timber yard in Lira City, where the victim’s mother is a casual worker serving food at a restaurant, stormed Lira Central police station under the leadership of chairman timber yard Moris Acobo protesting what they see as apparent disinterest to find the missing child.

The minor identified as Elizabeth Akello was kidnapped on Thursday last week when her mother Dilish Adero was busy serving customers in her sister’s restaurant in Timber Yard, Lira City East Division.

FDC To Meet its Elected MPs Over Speakership Race

The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC is set to meet Members of Parliament who were elected on the party ticket to discuss, among other things, the candidates it will support in the parliamentary speakership race

John Kikonyogo, the deputy party spokesperson said that although there are two people who have expressed interest in contesting for the office of speaker and deputy speaker respectively, the party is yet to agree on a candidate they will be supporting. Kikonyogo said the role of choosing the party flagbearers is solely vested in the hands of the party Electoral Commission led by Toterebuka Bamwenda.

Through the office of Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga the Speaker Parliament of Uganda, activists led by Obedigu Samuel commonly known as Strike Machine have petitioned parliament requesting for parliamentary oversight over the IMF Special Drawing Rights Holdings in Bank of Uganda.

According to Obedgui this development carries a lot of significance to the economy of Uganda.

Rakai Poisoning: Fifth Victim Buried

The Rakai poison incident has claimed the fifth child who died in Rubaga Hospital on Sunday night. The victim was quickly buried the next day after the body was returned home. The unfortunate event occurred on Easter at Kirangira village, Kasankala sub-county, in Rakai district.   

Alfa Kamoga, 6, who was still surviving of the five children who took Paraqua, a highly toxic chemical herbicide, also passed on exactly one week of struggling to save his his life.

Join Political Party to Fight Corruption- Mugisha Muntu

The Permanent Secretary of the Judiciary Pius Birgirimana  has assured members of Parliament that the Judiciary is investigating the incidence involving the Chief Justice, Alfose Owiny-Dollo and Justice Esther Kisakye.

Only Three Candidates Turn out for UACE in Bukalasi S.S

2020 Exams: UNEB Investigating Decline in the Number of UCE, UACE Candidates

Uganda National Examinations Board is investigating the decrease in the number of candidates in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examinations (UACE) cycles.

The examinations body says it has recorded a significant decline in the number of candidates who registered for UCE and UACE while there was a huge increase in the number of Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) candidates.

Makindye West MP Sewanyana to Contest for FUFA Presidency

The Makindye West Member of Parliament Allan Aloizious Ssewanyana has today declared that he will contest for the Presidency of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

The FUFA Elective General Assembly will take place in August this year.

Police Officers on Spot for Abetting Illegal Charcoal Trade In Agago

Police officers in Agago District are on the spot for allegedly aiding illegal charcoal trade.  This follows reports on the thriving commercial charcoal trade in the district despite the ban on commercial production and transportation of charcoal.

The ban instituted during a full council meeting last month followed the surge in commercial charcoal production in Lelakadera, Obulu Ayita, and Lacekoto in Labwa Parish, Adilang Sub-county. The vice also attracted the intervention of the Environmental Protection Police Unit, which raided several illegal charcoal production camps resulting in the arrest of suspects and the destruction of hundreds of bags of charcoal.

Six Suspects in Kyambogo Home Robbery Arrested

Police’s Crime Intelligence have arrested six people suspected to have executed the recent robbery that was captured on CCTV camera in a Chinese national’s residence in Kyambogo, a Kampala city suburb.  

The suspects posed as National Water Sewerage Corporation -NWSC staff to execute the attack in which $4,500 and other currencies amounting to 85 million Shillings was robbed from a private residence.    

Elegu Residents Appeal for Massive COVID-19 Test

The residents of Elegu town council in Amuru district are appealing for a massive COVID-19 tests to be carried out following their interaction with truck drivers whose status is unknown.

Over 2000 truck drivers from the East African countries recently staged a strike, parking their trucks at Elegu border post in protest of the armed attacks targeting their colleagues in South Sudan.
