Legal Manager and spokesperson of Buganda Land Board, Counsel Dennis Bugaya has been appointed Mawokota Ssaza FC team manager ahead of the famous Buganda Kingdom’s Masaza Cup football tournament due to commence on 24th June 2023.
Bugaya who was also born in Mawokota, his appointment was unveiled by the Ssaza chief ‘Kayima,’ Oweek. Gabriel Kabonge. Oweek. Kabonge confirmed the team management, unveiling other 8 officials that will assist Bugaya for the three-time Masaza Cup winners who last topped the tournament in 2013 to have an excellent performance this season.
An insider told Whisper Eye News that former 2007 Executive of Inspector General of Government (Makerere law society) Counsel Dennis Bugaya has in the past years been supporting his home ssaza team privately, but now they have reached an agreement to unveil him adding that, “Brooks Agro Farm which is headed by Counsel Dennis Bugaya is the official sponsor of ‘Kayima Cup Tournament’ a tournament that unites the seven sub-counties of Mawokota County in preparation of the Masaza Cup. We believe having him as the team manager this year, we will be aiming for a fourth Masaza Cup crown.” A source that preferred anonymity reveals.
Who is Bugaya?
A student of MBA, Mr. Bugaya holds a Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from Makerere University and a certificate in Computer Applications. Currently, he’s the Legal Manager and spokesperson of Buganda Land Board.
Mr. Bugaya was an executive of the Inspector General of Government (Makerere law society) in 2007.
He joined Buganda Land Board (BLB) as a Legal Assistant in 2009 before becoming a senior legal officer (2015 to 2016), and now sits on top management, of Buganda Land Board as a Legal Manager ex-official.
He established Brooks Agro Farm in Kitojjo, Buwama Mawokota which deals in poultry keeping.
The farm employs over 300 workers with 60% residents of his home area.
Through Brooks Agro Farm, he sponsors Kayima Cup Tournament and initiated the Brooks Easter Tournament where several teams from the sub-counties of Buwama, Kituntu, Nkozi, Kayabwe, and Buwama Town Council compete for a trophy, a bull, and other gifts.
Counsel Dennis Bugaya is appointed together with Mr. Kavuma Ronald Ssegirinya as the Chairman of the team management, and Mr. Kimogofu Yosia and Ssalongo Swaibu Kiyingi as Bugaya’s deputies in charge of Administration and Technical respectively.
Other appointees include Kiringente Sub County LC. V direct Councillor, John Busuulwa coming back in his position as the treasurer, Nsubuga Ibrahim as head of Security, and Innocent Ahimbisibwe as the General Secretary. Kizza Patrick Kiyingi will serve as the team doctor while Mwanja Solomon is appointed as the media officer.
Mawokota FC whose journey in the last year’s season ended at the Quarter-final stage knocked out by the mighty Buddu Ssaza, will be naming their head coach next week with few chances for former Uganda Cranes defender Malinga to bounce back as the head Coach.
Mawokota topped the prestigious competition in 2005, 2007, and 2013. This year, they are in the Muganzirwazza group alongside record winners Gomba, and defending champions Busiro, Ssese, Mawogola, and Kabula.
His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is expected to grace the opening game of the 2023 Masaza Cup competition on Saturday, 24th June between defending champions Busiro and Mawokota at Busiro Ssaza grounds, Ssentema.
