Renown city lawyer Male Mabirizi has dragged controversial Canana Land ministries pastor Aloysius Bujjingo and new wife Suza Makula to Court over illegal marriage.

Mabirizi has filed a civil suit at chief magistrates court Entebbe accusing the two of contracting marriage by customary law when Pastor Bujjingo already married under the Marriage Act.

Mabirizi states that Pastor Bujjingo is married to Teddy Naluswata.

On the 20th day of December 2003, Aloysious Bujjingo got married to Teddy Naluswata Bujjingo vide certificate No. 376 through a Church marriage at Victory Christian Centre, Ndeeba after which the marriage was solemnized and it still subsists.

“Instead of arresting the accused, Uganda Police Force corruptly escorted and guarded the duo in performance of a customary marriage ceremony on 7th December 2021 at Kawuku, Katabi Town Council,” says Mr Mabirizi.

“This is contrary to the following provisions of The Marriage Act, Cap.251:
S.42 that “Any person who, being unmarried, goes through the ceremony of marriage with a person whom he or she knows to be married to another person, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years,” Mabirizi states.

“S. 50 that “Any person who, having contracted marriage under this Act or any modification or reenactment of this Act, during the continuance of that marriage contracts a marriage in accordance with customary law, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years,” he added.

According to lawyer Mabirizi, Suzan Makula Nantaba who was at all times aware that Aloysius Bujjingo is married is liable under S. 42 the same way the man who voluntarily contracted marriage is liable under Section 50
Supported by my affidavit and a draft charge sheet, I pray for Summons.

Mr Mabirizi has vowed as a civically active Ugandan who has been closely following the constitution, Human Rights and Rule of law trends in Uganda he can not look on as the constitution is violated in broad daylight.
