Politics: UPC align formidable candidates to contest in the forthcoming by-elections

Following the nomination exercise of candidates for local government council by-elections that was carried out from 29th – 30th November 2021 by Uganda’s Electoral Commission (EC) at respective district headquarters where these elections are going to be held, the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) was able to get its candidates.

They were nominated successfully and they are now the Party flag bearers at various positions.

The UPC flag bearers for the position of LC 5 Councilor include Tumushabe Anxious, Nyamweru sub-county in Rubanda district; Odyek Boniface Macmoko, Aboke sub-county in Kole district; Ogwal Denis, Aleka sub-county in Oyam district and Ogwal Benard, Alango sub-county in Otuke district.

Then for the position of LC 3 Chairperson UPC have; Okeng Thomas for Agwatta sub-county Dokolo district, Obong Jimmy for Arwotcek sub county in Amolatar district among others.

The Party has also a number of Sub County Councilors representing their respective Parishes.

“Our Party flag bearers are already carrying out campaigns that started on 2nd December and ending on 14th December 2021,” says Arach Oyat Sharon UPC spokesperson.

“We call upon all Party leaders, members, and supporters in those respective areas to work hand in hand with our candidates, help them campaign and reach out to the electorates to deliver the Party’s central message from the Party Manifesto as well as offering them any necessary support towards these by-elections,” she added.

According to the by-election roadmap, elections will take place on 15th and 16th December 2021 for SIGs and Local Government Councils respectively.

Ms Arach has called upon electorates to turn out in bigger numbers and vote for UPC candidates to take those positions for better service delivery.
