Fire destroys property worth millions at Kigungu landing site.

Yesterday Sunday evening was a horrible day for atleast 100 residents of Kigungu landing site, Entebbe Municipality as they were left homeless after fire gutted the area.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but residents say it started at around 7pm evening.

“We have no starting point. It all came as a surprise and some of us could not rescue our properties from the houses.” One of the residents said

According to residents, several household items including cups, plates and blankets estimated in multi-million shillings were all destroyed.

Kigungu landing site which is a home of about 30000 people is located between a UPDF garrison command base and Entebbe International Airport with most of them being fishermen and enterpreneuers.

Police is currently investigating the cause of the fire at the landing site that also acts as the exit point for people heading to distant shores like Ssese and Bussi Islands.
