Police/UPDF/CMI Must Produce Dr. Muganga Lawrence in Courts of Law before 48hours – AKAMPA Tanbull

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We the concerned citizens of Uganda under our umbrella think-tank Human Rights Defenders Forum and other human rights defenders networks, associations, and organizations would like to condemn the brutality and inhuman treatment and torture that was melted on Dr Lawrence Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor Victoria University and some staff of the same institution.

Whereas we understand and appreciate the work of security agencies like Uganda Police, CMI, UPDF, and others in Keeping Law and order.

We highly condemn the manner in which Dr. Muganga was kidnapped and the staff of Victoria University manhandled, these acts of brutality were uncalled for, whoever “kidnapped” instead of arresting Dr. Muganga should know that they are enemies of the NRM Government and President Museveni at large.

We call upon whoever has Dr. Muganga to produce him in courts of Law as soon as possible, within the 48-hour constitutional period and less of this we shall petition the powers that may be as well hold a peaceful demonstration to show the entire world how Police/army brutality on human beings has increased in Uganda and thus no one is safe.

President Museveni made a pronouncement against police/UPDF torturing human beings as well wrongful arrests.

In the state of the Nation address security that took place recently on the evening 14th August 2021. But it seems there are elements in security agencies against NRM and President Museveni, these wrong elements should be brought to book for human rights violation or we will take them on as citizens.

Let whoever arrested Dr. Muganga come out and apologize to the public and the international community.

Whether Dr. Muganga Lawrence is a Citizen of Uganda or not, he still remains a human being, you should have summoned him if he had any case to answer than manhandling him in broad daylight.

We call upon the Inspector General of Police, The Army Commander, The Commander CMI to apologize to Ugandans as well punish those who manhandled Dr. Lawrence Muganga and the staff of Victoria University.

Furthermore, bring Dr. Munganga to court as soon as possible.

We await your quick response.
