As the planting season gets around the clock with moderate precipitate in Mpigi, the district Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Hon Teddy Nambooze organized a modern farming seminar in Kiringente Subcounty last week to equipped local maize farmers with modern practices to boost their harvests.

MP Nambooze donated high-quality maize seeds to the farmers to boost them to grow enough food for their homesteads and sell the surplus.

She also advised them to efficiently utilize their land places, so that to tame security-aided grabbers.

The seminar was held at Kiringente Subcounty Headquarters, where farmer and local leaders fully participated for the whole day.

“We must follow the advice of our agriculture extension work, Mr Ssajjabbi to increase harvest. Don’t sell these seed but rather plant them, look after them you will sell maize flour,” says MP Nambooze.

“My team is ready to supervise your gardens and I must get a weekly report about the progress of our Maize Project,” she explained.

Kiringente sub county district Woman Councillor Ms Nalumu Harriet appreciated MP Nambooze and questioned maize farmers to take care of their gardens and utilise the knowledge they acquired from the seminar to increase their harvests.

Kiringente LC. III Chairperson Mr Jimmy Kasozi praised the MP for organising the seminar and giving seeds to local farmers.

“I cultivated my field. I’ve been looking for means to get seeds. Honourable Nambooze has eased everything to me. I’m so happy and can’t stop appreciating her. May God continue blessing her.” A joyful local farmer said while appreciating Nambooze.

The farming session facilitation was headed by Mr Hakim Ssajjabbi, the Agricultural Productions Officer of the Sub county.
