Daily Monitor Journalist Beaten Assaulted and Robbed By Police Officers

Daily Monitor journalist, Mr Scovin Iceta was last evening assaulted and injured by Police officers in Adjumani District as he returned from Mungula refugee settlement.

Mr Scovin Iceta narrated to Whisper Eye that he was cordoned off by five gun wielding police officers who He accused him of taking pictures of officers enforcing curfew at 7pm.

A tearful Scovin who was languishing in pain further explains that he presented his press ID to the officers who however ignored all he was telling them and jumped onto him and beat him like a hound of dogs

Scovin sustained injuries on the mouth and legs, lost his tripod stand, Shs70,000 and Camera charger

It should be noted that this is not the first time police has battered journalists however it has always been the case and one wonders when this will stop.
Whisper Eyes efforts to speak to the area DPC have been futile as he has refused to answer our continous calls.
