Ibanda woman loses target, poisons step-daughter instead of husband

The Police in Ibanda district are holding Nyamwiza Edwin 24, a resident of Kanungu Cell, Rugooba parish, Nyabuhikye sub-county in Ibanda District on allegations of murder by poisoning.

The deceased is Ainembabazi Immaculate 13 a Primary one Pupil at St. Mary’s Buhunga Primary school in Buhweju District.

According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi regional Police spokesperson, the suspect laced her husband’s Kabuti Cough Syrup with Poison intending to kill him.

Unfortunately, the deceased got sick of headache and cough which prompted her father (Tumuhairwe Moses 35) to give the drug to her and she died after a short time.

The wanainchi who immediately responded to the scene gave a portion of the same drug to a hen to test if it was Poison and it also died on the spot.

Kasasira adds that Tumuhairwe, the father to the deceased rushed and reported a case of daughter’s murder by her stepmother which occurred on 14th July 2021 at around 9pm at Kiyayu trading Center- Bwahwa in Ibanda District.

The crime scene has been examined, exhibits of suspected poison, deceased’s Vomits and dead hen recovered and exhibited.

Kasasira further states that Postmortem has been done from Ruhooko HCIV and the report is pending retrieval.

According to Police investigations, the cause of the act is attributed to suspect’s persistent Domestic violence on the Compliant and jealousy of her stepdaughter (deceased).

The case has since been registered at Ibanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 049/2021 as inquiries are ongoing.
