Two suspected beer thieves shot dead in Mbarara

Two suspected thieves were on Thursday shot dead in Mbarara City after they attempted to steal crates of Beer from a truck which was packed at Nile Breweries Depot.

Rwizi Region Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira said that two suspects were shot dead by a Private Security Guard who was guarding the Depot belonging to Baker Kweyamba in Kirehe, Ruti along Kabale – Mbarara Road.

It’s reported that the two suspected thieves tried to steal from truck number UAV 203T which was loaded with beer and parked along the main road near Agaba Petrol Station.

Kasasira said that at the two tried to steal from the truck, the Security Guard identified as Mugume Lauben shot at them and killed them instantly.

Kasasira said that the two suspects were found with no identification and their bodies have been taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination report to be carried out.

However, Kasasira said that the two security guards have been arrested to help in the investigation and the case of murder by shooting was registered at Mbarara Central Police Station under reference number CRB 872/2021 to help with further investigation.
