I will defend the independence and sovereignty of Uganda, vows Gen Muhoozi

Lt General Kainerugaba Muhoozi has started officially his new role as the Land Forces Commander after taking over office yesterday.

President Museveni’s first son has vowed to protect the independence and sovereignty of Uganda.

“The threats might have changed but the goals of defending the independence and sovereignty of our country remain the same and the works start now,” says Gen Muhoozi.

He has highlighted four areas in the force immediately.

“The commander in chief has guided this new team to focus on enhancing combat capabilities, addressing the welfare deficit of the troops by improving accommodation and living standards, ensuring the health of our officers especially in these challenging times and above all intensify political education,” Lt Gen Muhoozi explained.

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations.

He has saluted the commander in chief President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for having chosen him to serve in the new position.

“I want to thank our great leader for the honour of leading our forces,” Lt Gen Muhoozi salutes father.

Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba signed one of the reports from Lt Gen Peter Elwelu who based over office yesterday at Bombo Military Barracks, after his promotion to Deputy Chief of Defence Forces in the UPDF.

Speaking at the same function, Lt Gen Elwelu promised guidance to the new land forces commander.

“I wish you the best in your new endeavours. We shall always be together as we work for our country and the mighty UPDF,” Gen Elwelu said.
