Covid-19: Lord Mayor Lukwago’s neighboor in Bulwa Zone, Wakaliga found dead

Kampala Capital City Authority Lord Mayor haji Erias Lukwago has partnered with Uganda Red Cross Society to provide emergency services, particularly evacuation of the suspected COVID-19 dead body from his neighborhood.

Today morning, Lord Mayor Lukwago and Red Cross have picked a body of a suspected COVID-19 victim that has been lying in a rental for two days in Bulwa zone – Wakaliga in Rubaga Division.

Bulwada residents earlier made frantic calls to the RCC of Kampala Mr. Hood Hussein, who heads the COVID-19 Task Force for Kampala and the Metropolitan Area, the police and other relevant authorities but failed to get help.

“We failed to get help from various responsible authorities, thus turning to Red Cross to handle the situation,” says a resident in Bulwada Zone.

Mr Lukwago has also reached out to other private agencies and health facilities who have graciously accepted to boost the KCCA fleet of ambulances.

A reliable source close to the Authority told Whisper Eye News that, at the moment KCCA has got only three functioning Ambulances.

Lord Mayor Lukwago is mobilising the support of good Samaritans to pool at least 18 Ambulances to deal with the pathetic situation.
