Why Museveni ordered URA boss to immediately return Bobi Wine bulletproof car to avoid Katumba kind of action

Uganda president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has ordered URA boss to immediately return hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert’s armored car.

Former presidential candidate Mr. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu who is also popularly known as Bobi Wine, bought an armored vehicle registration number UBJ 667F early this year, just after few weeks in his custody it was confiscated by URA claiming that the tax paid was undervalued, thus ordering new evaluation

URA wrote to Bobi Wine Lawyers from Wameli and Co. Advocates based in Kampala.

In the letter dated 7th June 2021, titled “Application for review of tax assessment for motor vehicle – Toyota cruiser Reg. No. UBJ 667F”, asking Kyagulanyi’s lawyers to get back the armored car immediately.

“This is to further inform you that we have received a directive from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda to the effect that Uganda Revenue Authority should release your client’s motor vehicle immediately,” reads the letter in parts.

“In light of the above, please liaise with the Commissioner Customs who by copy hereof is requested to facilitate the provisional release of your client’s vehicle immediately,” the letter reads further.

According to the URA letter, although Mr. Wine has not yet paid the full amount of taxes as ordered by the Tax Body, the president ordered URA to return his armored car.

“However, please note that the outstanding tax is still due and payable.”

“The final amount will be communicated to your client in due course after reviewing of the appeal,” reads the letter further.

Mr Kyagulanyi paid 88m instead of paying 337m, now a balance of 249m balance must be paid the letter adds.

The value was adjusted basing on the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).

A reliable source told Whisper Eye News that Mr. Museveni is skeptical about security matters in the county.

The President is trying to avoid Gen Katumba Wamala’s incident that occurred last week where assassins killed his daughter Nantongo and bodyguard at Kisota road in Ntinda, Kampala, in an attempt to assassinate the most respected general in Uganda.

Some other sources say President Museveni was no aware that his opponent had lost his bulletproof car to URA over taxes.

By press time the monster vehicle had already arrived at Bobi Wine’s Magere home, He is also set to address media over the same issue.
