National Resistance Movement (NRM) big guns fight for top cabinet slot as President Museveni is set to publish the final cabinet list.

A reliable source told Whisper Eye News that NRM secretary general Hon Justine Lumumba Kasule and Kiwanda Godfrey who is the vice president of the party in the Buganda region are fighting for the vice president slot in the new cabinet.

The source further told us that Ms Lumumba and Kiwanda are no longer facing each other.

President Museveni revealed yesterday that he will be announcing the Vice President and Prime Minister earlier before the final cabinet list is released.

Ms. Lumumba one of the front runners was appointed to the position of NRM secretary-general on 23 December 2014 after Museveni falling out with then powerful Amama Mbabazi.

While Kiwanda was first elected to Uganda’s parliament in 2001, representing Mityana North Constituency, serving in that capacity until 2006.

From 2007 until 2010, he served as the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kaabong District, in the Karamoja Sub-region.

In 2011, he bounced back into parliament on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party ticket.

He was reelected in 2016 in June of that year, he was appointed as State Minister for Tourism in the Cabinet of Uganda.

In 2021 Kiwanda was instead elected by the Central Executive Committee (CEC), the supreme organ of the NRM, as the Party’s Vice President of the ruling NRM party.

After Edward Ssekandi losing parliamentary elections in a terrible way, he will be forced to retire as well as PM Ruhakana Rugunda who is most likely to be sent back to the United States of America to amend relations with the Biden land who have failed to congratulate president Museveni re-election todate.
