Mwoyo Gwa Pesa: NUP councillors backed by MP Alloysious Mukasa bribed UGX 1million each, vote NRM speaker in Rubaga division Kampala.

National Unity Platform (NUP) party lost Rubaga Division speakership post in the predominantly NUP councillors house.

‘Mwoyo gwa Pesa’ politics is eating up Uganda’s leading opposition political party, NUP slowly by slowly.

In Rubaga Division, Kampala NUP had 64 councillors and the ruling party of National Resistance Movement (NRM) headed by Mr Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni had only 11 councillors but comfortably won the post of the speaker to control the house.

Interestingly, after the vote, NRM candidate Mr Mbaziira Musah scored 49 votes while NUP candidate who was backed by party president Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert also known as Bobi Wine, and Rubaga Division mayor His Worship Zaccy Mberaze Mawula, Rehema Ffuge scored only 45 votes losing to NRM.

Sources intimated to Whisper Eye News that Rubaga south MP Alloysious Mukasa helped NRM to bribe NUP councillors who are loyal to him.

Inside Mr Mbaziira’s camp, each NUP councillor was paid Ugx 1m to vote him as the speaker.

The source further told us that MP Mukasa Alloysious helped NRM to easily convince these councillors, the legislator helped them to buy party tickets from the Election and management committee headed by hajjat Marsitulah Walukamba.

NUP members and supporters in the diaspora have started investigations why the top party leadership is silent about the act of NUP councillors selling their voting rights to NRM at a critical time when the party wanted the post of the speaker to ensure service delivery.
