Speaker Race: Kadaga faces expulsion from NRM if she stands as independent

Former Speaker of Uganda’s parliament, Kamuli Woman MP hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga to face expulsion from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) if she nominates as an independent candidate against Hon Jacob Oulanyah today.

A source close to NRM Secretariat at Kyadondo, told Whisper Eye News that the embattled MP Kadaga has been warned by top party officials not to contest against CEC-approved candidate the Omoro County MP Jacob Oulanyah.

Former NRM chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa is mobilizing NRM top leaders to act and effect the decision.

The source further intimated to us, that the former Uganda prime minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi is part of the deal. Making it absolutely serious.

A high-level meeting sat yesterday night at Kololo and took the decision to expel Ms Kadaga from the party.

The 11th parliament of Uganda is set to commence today, starting with the election of the speaker.

NRM’s Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori to face a stiff challenge from his former boss Hon Kadaga.

Others in the race are Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer who is also the Kira municipality MP Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda, and Democratic Party (DP) candidate, also Bukoto Central MP Ssebamala Richard.
