Absence of Bududa district service commission has failed the recruitment of staff.   This comes after the term of office for three members on the district service commission(DSC) expired in January.

Bududa District Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Samson Natsambwa says that the exercise was halted after the term of office of some members on the DSC expired before advertising for the various positions including administrative and health.

He said they are waiting for the Public Service Commission to approve the names of members that were presented to them for extension of their term of office, a decision which was made by the district council during their sitting in October last year .

The service commission which consists of five members has only two members including the Chairman and that representing persons with disability whose term is still running, leaving out the rest whose term had expired.

However, John Wakinya the Bududa district service commission chairman said they are waiting for the chief administrative officer to give them positions to advertise.

He said much as they don’t make a quorum, they can still work within the law and “borrow the commission from the neighboring district”.

Geoffrey Natubu the Bududa district speaker said they submitted the names for approval long time ago but blamed public service for delaying to approve the names yet they have got positions to advertise.

Yonasan Bululu the Bududa district vice Chairperson said they are worried that when the funds go back to the treasury, they will be given less wages in the next financial year after failing to absorb what was given to them in this quarter.
