AFCON Beach Soccer : Provisional Squad Sand Cranes

The National Coach of the Beach Soccer team, Salim Muwonge has named a provisional squad of 16 players to start preparations ahead of AFCON 2021 Beach Soccer tournament. 

The squad will join residential training at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday, where they will undergo different training sessions.

The team is however dominated by St. Lawrence Beach Soccer team with the institution contributing half of the team, other players are from MUBS Beach Soccer team as well as the Buganda Royal team.

Muwonge says that he will later trim the team to the final squad of 12 players that will represent the country in the finals. The players will depart for Senegal on May 18.

Sand Cranes was recently drawn in Group A alongside hosts Senegal. Uganda’s opening game will be against Tanzania before they play hosts Senegal and then the Democratic Republic of Congo- DRC.  

The 2020 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will be the fourth edition of the premier Beach Soccer championship in Africa contested by men’s national teams who are members of the Confederation of African Football. It slated this month from 23 to 29 May 2021.
