Tom Amayo, the headteacher of Yole primary school in Katrini Sub County in Terego district is in detention on accusations of defiling and battering his own daughter. Amayo was picked up on Tuesday by officers from Katrini police post following a tip-off by the victim’s uncles where she had sought refuge.

According to preliminary police findings, the suspect had reportedly committed the offence several times at his residence in the staff quarters where has been living with the victim. Agnes Anyu, the Terego District Police Commander, says that they have charged the suspect rape, defilement and torture.

Geoffrey Aziz, a member of Yole Primary School Management committee told URN that they are in the process of holding an emergency meeting following the arrest of the headteacher to forge away

forward to allow the school to run normally.

The incident has puzzled staff and pupils of Yole primary school where the victim has been attending school. Moses Maku, a resident and elder in Katrini Sub County, says such acts are not only degrading morality in society but are an indication of a doomed society.

“Acts like this one have never been in our society and for us to begin witnessing a father defiling his own daughter is an indication of a rotting society, which must be condemned in the strongest manner possible,” said Maku.
