The Uganda Cranes are scheduled to face Malawi in their last qualifiers for the 2022 Afcon finals later this evening without the services of key players due to injuries.

Some of the players that have dropped out of the team due to injuries are Abdu Lumala, Timothy Awany, Allan Kyambadde, Patrick Kaddu and Fahad Bayo.

Speaking to URN during their last training session at Phillip Omondi Stadium, the Uganda Cranes Interim Coach Abdallah Mubiru said there is literally a very slim chance for Patrick Kaddu and Fahad Bayo to take part in the do or die match.

He, however, said the other players were doing well and determined despite being affected by some injuries.

Uganda Cranes midfielder, Moses Waiswa, says that the team is well prepared, adding that they have been working on the mistakes they made in their last game against Burkina Faso at Kitende.

Patrick Kaddu scored Uganda’s goal against Cape Verde that earned Uganda a slot in the 2019 Afcon Finals. Uganda is heading to their last game against Malawi in search of one point to qualify for the Afcon finals.

Uganda is in Group B with 8 points one point below table leader Burkina Faso who already booked their space in the Afcon finals.   Malawi is third with seven points.
