Express FC has defeated Police FC 1-0 in the Star Times Uganda Premier League match played at Phillip Omondi stadium Lugogo under heavy rains.

Erick Kambale’s late goal gave Express FC victory over the hosts. The game started at a low pace with both teams creating little attacks courtesy of the heavy rains with the first-half ending in a goalless draw.

The second half started with the Red Eagles pressing the cops hard. Frank Kalanda twice missed the net. However, Erick Kambale got Express FC the only goal in the 84th minute with a header from a rebound.

The win takes Express FC to the second position on the table with 32 points displacing Vipers SC, which dropped one position with 30 points.

The Police FC Captain Denis Rukundo says the weather did not favor their style of playing flowing football leading to their loss.

Express FC Captain Enock Walusimbi said the win is pivotal for his side because they had spent two games without scoring a goal.

Elsewhere in Star Times Uganda Premier League, Wakiso Giants held UPDF to a goalless draw.
