Luwero Accident Claims Three, Critically Injures Seven Others

A speeding taxi has knocked a motorcycle killing three people and injuring seven others critically in Luwero town.

The accident occurred opposite Luwero Boys Primary School in Luwero town council along Kampala-Gulu highway around 1:30 pm on Monday. 

The accident involved a taxi registration number UBJ 164M commonly known as drone and a motorcycle registration number UEG 809E.

Abraham Tukundane, the Luwero District Police Commander, says the speeding taxi driver destined for Luwero town from Kasana town knocked dead a motorcyclist before he overturned and killed his own conductor. 

Tukundane says seven other people were critically injured and rushed by police officers to Luwero Hospital for treatment.   

The third person died at Luwero Hospital where he had been transferred for treatment. The identities of the deceased were not readily available by the time of filing this story.

The injured have been identified as Moses Kawuki, Sharifah Kanyike and Sophia Kizza, all residents of Luwero town.

Kanyike and Kizza were travelling on the motorcycle from Luwero farmers market when the taxi rammed into the motorbike.

Reports indicate that the taxi was being driven by a guide at Kasana Taxi Park after being instructed by the driver to pick for him, passengers.

Both the guide and drivers are wanted by police.
