Two police officers and two civilians have been killed deadly clashes between residents and police in Bukwo district over the arrest of a defilement suspect.

Three police officers also escaped with injuries and are hospitalised.

The clashes broke out in Kapros trading Center in Kapros Sub County on Thursday evening.

Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Spokesperson, says the trouble started after five police officers went to Kapros to arrest unidentified defilement suspect.

He, however, says that the officers met stiff resistance for machete-wielding residents leading to clashes.

According to Chesang, residents hacked to death two police officers forcing their colleagues to file live bullets, which caught two residents.

One of the residents died on the spot while another died while being rushed to Hospital.

The deceased police officers are Nelson Kisenyi No.72135 who died on the spot while his colleague John Ogwel No. 49013 died on the way to the hospital.

According to Chesang, police have commenced investigations in the matter, saying a team from their regional headquarters has rushed to the scene to ascertain the facts on the ground.
