No amount of misuse & suffocation can erode the world cognizance of Courts as Centres of Justice & judges as agents of arbitration based on the law, justice,& in Common law nations like Uganda then also invoking customarily agreed norms and other substantial values of social harmony.

Courts have additional discretion to take legal and judicial notice of some aspects and issues not necessarily presented or accurately proved in Court.No court need evidence to agree that Uganda is in East Africa,That Uganda has gone through an election period e.t.c.

Big Story: Bisaka’s Body Preserved for Future Viewing

The body of the late Desteo Owobusobozi Bisaka, the Founder of Faith of Unity has been embalmed and kept for future viewing by his followers. The body has been kept in Bisaka’s house in Kapyeemi cell in Muhorro town Council in Kagadi district.  

Embalming is the art and science of preserving human remains by treating them to forestall decomposition. This is done to ensure that the deceased is suitable for public or private viewing or preserved for medical purposes.

African Development Bank Warns Gov’t Project Delays Could Attract Penalties

The African Development Bank has threatened to withdraw funding for the project aimed at building the capacity of Ugandans for opportunities in the oil and gas sector, should the government fail to utilize the funds according to the stipulated terms and conditions.     

The Bank is funding the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Districts’ Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Business Linkage Project, to make the people along the pipeline corridor ready to access jobs and business opportunities the project is expected to create.

Museveni Asks NRM Parliamentary Losers to Prepare for 2026 Elections

President Yoweri Museveni has asked members of the ruling National Resistance Movement who lost in the recent elections to start preparing for the 2026 elections.

The NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba revealed this while addressing journalists at the party Secretariat in Kampala on Sunday.

This follows a closed-door meeting held between Museveni and NRM leaning members of parliament at Kololo ceremonial grounds on Saturday.

Court Reinstates Eastern Youth NRM Parliamentary Candidate Bernard Odoi

The High Civil Divisions in Kampala has reinstated Bernard Odoi Onen, the National Resistance Movement-NRM candidate for the Eastern Youth parliamentary elections. Onen petitioned High court after Electoral Commission cancelled his nomination on December 31st, 2020 on grounds that he was ineligible to run for the youth parliamentary seat because he was above 30 years.      

However, in his petition, Onen argued that prior to his nomination, he submitted National Identity card to the Electoral Commission indicating that he was born on August 28th, 1991 as evidence to prove that he was a youth and upon satisfaction, the EC duly nominated him.

Sad: 7-Year Old Boy Drowns in Lake Victoria

A minor has drowned at Kamwanyi Landing Site in Bujumba Sub County in Kalangala District while playing with his peers on the Lake Victoria shoreline.

Seven-year-old Wilson Mukisa went out to play with his friends around 4 pm on Saturday evening.

Electoral Commission has disqualified the National Unity Platform-NUP central youth parliamentary candidate from the ongoing elections at the National Teacher’s College in Mubende district.      

The Central/ Southern Region Regional Elections Officer, Robert Baine, says the NUP candidate, Moses Kasule used a voter outside the Electoral College to back his candidature.    

Quark Doctor Arrested For Stealing Microscope and Ipad

Bukedea Police are holding a self-styled doctor from Aloet trading center for the alleged theft of a microscope and an Ipad from Amuria district.

The suspect is Lazarus Ojilong, who was dismissed from Bukedea health center IV in December last year for alleged theft of an Itel smartphone from an intern. 

Police to Spend 450m Every Quarter on DNA Samples

The Directorate of Forensic Sciences in the Uganda Police Force-UPF is seeking Shillings 450 million for examining at least 100 DNA samples from suspects and crime victims each quarter.

      This is contained in a document prepared by the acting head of the Directorate Forensic Science, Andrew Mubiru for other police directors who are also members of the Policy Advisory Committee. According to Mubiru, the Directorate of Forensic Sciences that was commissioned last week is envisaged to have an output of 100 DNA cases per quarter.

Just In: Police Arrest Suspected SPC Killers with Stolen Gun

Police have arrested three suspects with the firearm that was stolen from a Special Police Constable who was killed while guarding the Electoral Commission offices in Kabale municipality last week.    

The suspects are 27-year-old Paul Dusingizimana alias Never Give Up, a resident of Murambi village in Rwaramba Parish in Nyakinama Sub county, Mugisha Asiimwe Mkwenda alias Young from Gatete village in Mukabaya parish Muroora Sub County both from Kisoro District and Bosco Twinomujuni from Kujuguta Ward in Northern Division of Kabale Municipality.
