The National Unity Platform Presidential (NUP) candidate Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has joined hundreds of Ugandans condemning the arrest of Human rights lawyer Nicholas Opiyo.

Nicholas Opiyo was arrested today afternoon by what has been described as brutal security forces.

Whisper Eye has learnt that Security forces armed to teeth confiscated Nicholas Opiyo laptop, documents and his car keys too despite his request to hand them to a friend.

When the arrest of lawyer Opiyo fell in the ears of Bobi Wine, he took to his social media to condemn the arrest saying it’s intended to frustrate the ongoing investigations of gross human rights abuses.

He said that Nicholas and others are involved in investigating and collecting evidence of murders that occurred between 18th and 19th November.

We have also established that Nicholas Opiyo was arrested with three other human rights lawyers, Dakasi Herbert, Odur Anthony and Esomu Obure.
The fifth person is Tenywa Hamid, National Unity Human Rights Officer.
