Big Story: End arrests of political opponents in Uganda: UN independent experts

A group of independent UN human rights experts called on Ugandan authorities to end the arrest, detention and judicial harassment of political opponents, civil society leaders and human rights defenders.
The concerns, raised by the experts on Tuesday, come amid an uptick in violence ahead of Uganda’s 14 January presidential election and includes reports of the death of an opposition politician’s bodyguard along with injuries sustained by three journalists hit by tear gas canisters on Sunday.

Former World Boxing Champion Justin Juuko jailed in Uganda

The government has told High Court in Kampala that the Forum for Democratic Change -FDC party coordinator for Greater Masaka Region Justin Juuko was remanded after being charged with treachery.
Juuko, also known as “The Ugandan destroyer,” was arrested on December 12 from Kyazanga and reportedly charged by the Unit Disciplinary Committee-UDC of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence. This is according to the evidence tendered before High Court Civil Division Judge Musa Ssekaana on Monday, by the Attorney General’s representatives.
EezZy- UCC agree to improve Tumbiza song with funding from MOH

Musician Eric Opoka has agreed to produce an improved version of the “Tumbiza sound” song to encourage observance of the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures- SOPs.
